Wash Day Recap | 3 Strand Twists

This week was all about trying something different. I wanted to mix up my hairstyle a bit, so I opted for 3 Strand Twists. Before we get to my results, here is a recap of Wednesday's wash day:

[1]  Pre-pooed with my mixture of Hair Trigger Growth Elixir and  JBCO under a plastic cap for 45 minutes .  I massaged my scalp for about 10 minutes and then put on a plastic cap.
[2]  Co-Washed with Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Co-Wash Conditioning Cleanser
[3]  ACV + Water Rinse after I washed out my conditioner. I massaged the mixture for a few minutes and left it in.
[4] T-shirt dried my hair for about 30 minutes
[5] Detangled with Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner. I started off using my wide tooth comb but ended up using my fingers for the rest of my hair.
[6] Separated my hair into sections and used clips to keep my hair in place.
[7]  I applied my leave-in conditioners:  Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner, Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner and Shea Moisture's Curling Custard to each section
[8]  Using Alikay Natural's Moisture Rich Hair Parfait and a tutorial from Natural Sistas, I did 3 Strand Twists. I think it took me about 2 hours to do my whole head. The goal was to wear the twists for a couple of days before doing a twist out.

The results

I did my first 3 strand twist on my first wash day of the week (Sunday) and I think it turned out ok. The twists could have been better but I'm sure with time it will get better. The first time around I wore the twists for two days and wore a twist out for a day before washing. I kept it the same the second time around as well.

I loved the curl definition that I got from the three strand twists. I also loved that the technique was pretty simple. My braid game is still a work in progress but mastering the 3 Strand Twist is attainable.

My first attempt at 3 strand twists done on Sunday (my first wash day)

  2. Thanks Kristal! This might be my new go-to hairstyle. It was easy to do and I think this is the best definition I've seen on my twa.
