On the surface, it seems like a easy challenge. However, drinking enough water has definitely been an issue for me. With an overactive bladder, due to a predisposition to uterine fibroids, I subconsciously avoided drinking liquids to alleviate my discomfort. But with the many benefits of drinking water (clear skin, better circulation, hair growth, etc.), I wanted to give it a try. I made it my goal to drink 48 oz of water (6 glasses of water) a day.
My handy water bottle. I made it my goal to drink 2 of these every day. |
The benefits:
- Clear skin- My acne breakouts have been almost non-existent. I get an occasional pimple here or there but nothing compared to what I had before.
- No migraines! - Because I was dehydrated most of the time, I often suffered from migraines on a daily basis. But, since I've made an effort to drink more water, I haven't had any migraines.
The downside
- Increased trips to the bathroom during the day and at night, even with me drinking my last bit of water before 7:30 p.m. This is not that much of an adjustment since this is something I deal with already.
I would love to increase my water intake to about 8 glasses a day over time. I know that my body needs it, so it will continue to be a priority for me.
How much water do you drink on a daily basis?
Until next time!
