[1] Pre-pooed with my mixture of Hair Trigger Growth Elixir and JBCO under a plastic cap for an hour. Before I put on the plastic cap, I did a scalp massage for about 10 minutes.
[2] Co-Washed with Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Co-Wash Conditioning Cleanser
[3] Protein Treatment After doing a lot of research, I chose ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor. Although I use the Curly Girl Method and natural products, I felt this was the best protein treatment for me. At first, I thought about doing a homemade protein treatment but at this point I don't have the time. I put on a plastic cap and let the treatment set on my hair for about 5 minutes.
[4] Deep conditioned with Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
[5] ACV + Water Rinse after I washed out my conditioner. I massaged the mixture for a few minutes and left it in.
[7] T-shirt dried my hair for about 30-40 minutes
[8] I applied my leave-in conditioners: Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner, Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner and ApHogee Keratin Green Team Reconstrutor.
[9] Detangled with my Denman brush
[10] Finished up by applying Shea Moisture's Curling Custard, Marguerite's Magic Restorative Cream and JBCO before puttung on my bonnet & scarf.
I could immediately tell the difference after doing the protein treatment. My hair looked better and felt stronger. I'm going to continue to use this treatment twice a month and eventually use it once a month.
How was your wash day?
Until next time!

I am glad the 2 minute reconstructor worked well for you and that you noticed a difference in your har immediately. My daughter and I will be trying the reconstructor for the first time of our hair soon and hopefully we can experience a positive result as well. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the blog! I think my hair was experiencing a moisture overload. I've been so worried about keeping my hair moisturized that I didn't do a protein treatment since I big chopped seven months ago. I was so nervous about doing a treatment but it turned out great! My hair definitely needed it and I will definitely be something I keep in my regimen.
ReplyDeleteI just read your wash day update and it seems that it worked for you too! I feel you on the gray hairs too! I swear they started popping out when I transitioned and are here to stay. I want to do a henna treatment sometime in the near future. We'll see. Are you planning on doing a protein treatment for your daughter?
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
Hi Jacqueline! As you read from my post, I have struggled with the whole moisture/protein balance for a long time. I am so glad I did try the protein treatment and am curious to see how it fits in my regimen as time goes on. I am definitely terrified of protein overload though so I plan to take it nice and easy!
ReplyDeleteI did the protein treatment on my daughter's hair and it went well as far as I know. Her hair smoothed out nicely and her thin strands feel stronger. When I deep conditioned her hair after the protein treatment, it feel very soft but not mushy (like I was accustomed to). I just added yarn wraps to her hair and plan to keep them in for 3 weeks.
I had a pretty good Thansgiving except for a little stomach bug on the day of Thanksgiving so I did not eat that much. Nevertheless, I made a nice meal for my family on yesterday that more than made up for all I missed on Thursday. I see you had a nice Friendsgiving. What a great concept!
Hi Kristal!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you. I plan to stick with the gentle protein treatments to avoid the overload.
I'm glad that the treatment went well for your daughter's hair. I started to get the mushy hair and realized it was a problem. I saw your post about her yarn wraps and they look great!
Oh no! I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well. That's good that you were able to have a nice meal with your family. I did. We'll probably host another one next year as well.
